Alliance Global Vice President, Connected Vehicles

Kal Mos is Alliance Global Vice President for Connected Vehicles. In this role, Kal is responsible for all connected vehicle related technologies and services. This includes global responsibility for the end-to-end design, deployment and release of connected systems, features and services in vehicles produced across Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi. His team is working to connect all vehicles across the Alliance member companies to provide new features and services to customers, enable improved vehicle quality and allow potential new business opportunities.

Mos joined the Alliance in 2018 from Mercedes-Benz R&D NA, where he was Vice President of AI & Digital Vehicles. In this role he was responsible for areas such as Artificial Intelligence, machine learning, autonomous systems, embedded platforms, connected services, user experience, big data, and analytics. Kal joined Mercedes-Benz in 2002 to create and lead the Connected Car group. More recently, he led the development of the first Mercedes-Benz intelligence engine for the highly praised MBUX infotainment system, which was revealed at the CES in January 2018.

Prior to Mercedes-Benz, Kal worked as the chief technologist of OnStar, where he led a team of General Motors’ engineers in developing the OnStar in-vehicle hardware and software platform.

Kal is an author of several publications and a holder of four patents. He has a Ph.D. in Probabilistic Modeling & Uncertainty Analysis from faculty of engineering at the University of Tokyo in Japan.
